SUSSEX MISS OUT ON TWICKENHAM

IT LOOKED for most of the first half as if the powerful Middlesex pack would carry all before them. Three rolling mauls resulted in tries in the first quarter and the Sussex pack could seem to offer little resistance.

This, lock Clynton Janke took the chances to score a hat-trick. Some of this advantage was squandered by the visitors' slack tackling, which allowed Haywards Heath's Lei' Ataua 'Otuouhama an overlap to score a try converted by club-mate Owen Ashton, whose kicking was preferred to that of Worthing's leading points scorer Ben Coulson.

Sussex missed out on the final at Twickenham after Hertfordshire defeated Berkshire 68-0.
