Sussex pair backed for Olympics bid

TWO more West Sussex riders have been selected for the 2009-2011 World Class Development Programme as potential competitors for the 2012 Olympics.

Charlotte Platt from Henfield is one of seven riders chosen for the potential class in show jumping, while Amy Stovold of Staplefield, is one of six classified as potential in dressage.

Charlotte (22) jumped her way into the public eye when she produced the only double clear of the Samsung Super League's Nations Cup competition at Hickstead earlier this year when helping the British team to second place. She has her sights firmly set on the London Olympics in 2012.

Amy Stovold (29) has the London Olympics as a realistic target in dressage, having steadily progressed to being a trainer as well as a rider.

Riding Carry On MacBrian, she has been Reserve Champion to Carl Hester on no less than three occasions.
