Candy won all three of her singles matches throughout the course of the event and was very pleased with how she played on the clay courts of La Baule, despite the windy conditions.

Great Britain won Group B courtesy of 3-0 victories over South Africa and Turkey. Candy beat Sharon van der Schyff 6-1, 6-1 in the number one singles match against South Africa and saw off Seyhan Mungan by the same score against Turkey.

Second seeds Great Britain then pipped fifth seeds France 2-1 in an epic semi-final. Candy won a three-hour battle against Caroline Glaszmann 6-3, 5-7, 6-2 and Britain edged the deciding doubles rubber 7-5 in the final set after trailing 4-1.

Candy came down with a bug, however, and missed the final against the United States, which Britain lost 2-1 after losing both singles matches in straight sets.
