'The Bucket residence, the lady of the house bowling...'

Chichester Bowls Club had a famous visitor for their final match of the season.

Members have been proud to support Contact 88 as their chosen charity of the year. A little-known organisation, they provide days out and transport services for retired people in Chichester.

Actress Patricia Routledge, best known for her portrayal of Hyacinth Bucket in the sitcom Keeping Up Appearances, is the charity's honorary patron and was present to receive a cheque for 1,000, raised at the club's open tournament earlier this year.

The event was made possible by the kind sponsorship of Reynolds, who provided the prize money.

The cheque was presented on the green at the club's last match of the season and Patricia proved game for a laugh by delivering a couple of woods.

Meanwhile, Chichester and Chichester Priory Park ladies held their end-of-season presentation of trophies.

They were presented by the president, Vic Mitchell, and club captain Mike Lewis.

The ladies' trophies were presented by Moira Field because of their president being unwell.
