From the opening ends a close result always looked the most likely outcome and at the interval only two shots separated the two sides. Over the next few ends the visitors began to pull away and soon opened a potentially match winning nineteen shot lead. From this unpromising position Wealden fought back with even the losing rinks substantially adding to their score. This great team effort brought them back to level terms with only one rink left to play the last end of the game. Although they had already decisively won their game the team skipped by Peter Carter found themselves one shot down with only the skips last bowl to play. Under intense pressure Carter played the perfect draw to just rest out the shot bowl and give Wealden the five bonus points and a 119 to 118 shot victory. Other winning Wealden point scorers were the teams led by Mel Woodhams who were comfortably ahead throughout and a shared point for Malcolm Gomans Four who picked up two shots on the last end to share the honours but even the losing rinks played their part by holding their opponents to just a few shots in their individual games. With just a few remaining games left to play there is still a chance for Wealden to avoid the drop into Division 2.
