Thrilling England v USA polo action

ARENA Polo has reached such a high standard that it has become a great spectator sport.

Hickstead saw the second Arena Test Match held recently, between the USA and England.

Arena Polo is now an important part of Hickstead's portfolio and takes place during the winter months with a three a-side team using a larger and softer ball than the traditional polo one. Shots can also be played off the boarded sides of the arena, resulting in a fast but shorter game.

Crowds turned up to watch the match from the purpose-built Redmire clubhouse, over looking the arena. One of the other advantages of the Hickstead Arena is that it can be viewed from all sides, giving the spectators a chance to follow the match without any restrictions.

The USA took an early lead but this was soon overtaken by some skilful playing from England, resulting in a final score of 15 to England and 9 to the USA.
