THUNDER READY FOR NEW SEASON

JAMAL JOHNSON is the replacement for Lavoris Jerry on the new Worthing Thunder basketball roster.

The Georgian rookie 6ft 7in power forward flew in this morning (Thursday), will practice tomorrow, then face Solent Stars in the National Trophy group season-opener at the Leisure Centre on Saturday (8pm).

He may face Brighton Bears in the return leg of their pre-season warm-up at the Brighton Centre on Sunday (6pm).

Jerry's non-arrival at the airport last week, his airfare having been advanced by the club and he having signed a contract, then demanded more money, shocked Thunder and their fans. But Johnson's papers were quickly in place and Thunder grabbed the All-Peach Belt Conference star and leading scorer for Clayton State University.
