Ticket to Ryde leads to success for Lavant House

Lavant House School's under-15 and under-16 netball teams crossed the Solent to take on teams from The Ryde School.

The under-16s led 5-4 after the first quarter and improved further in the second and with some excellent defence from Matilda Pickles and Becki Martin, led 14-4 at half-time.

Confidence grew and with excellent shooting from Camilla Langmead and Georgia Miles as well as some superb linking play by Jemma Swan and Pip Rainbow, Lavant House were unstoppable. The final score was 24-11.

The under-15s were without captain Grace Hooper but still played an excellent game. Jessica Breach stepped in as goal attack and played very well.

The team worked hard and the first quarter finished 5-4 to The Ryde. The end-to-end match carried on evenly until the fourth quarter when The Ryde turned over a Lavant House centre - and there wasn’t enough time for Lavant to pull back. The final score was 20-18 to The Ryde.

Head of PE at Lavant House Claire Cawte said: “The girls should be extremely proud of themselves as they were excellent ambassadors for their school. Their determination and skill on court was a joy to watch.” Pip Rainbow (U16) and Megan Adams and Jess Breach (U15) were named players of the matches.
