Tim leads team to triumph

HORSHAM'S Tim Brooking led a home-town clean sweep of the podium places in the county's annual prize meeting at Bisley on Sunday.

HORSHAM'S Tim Brooking led a home-town clean sweep of the podium places in the county's annual prize meeting at Bisley on Sunday.

He scored 198 ex 200 to head Martin Woolger and Reg Roberts who also made equal scores on points but with a lesser count of the crucial tie deciding central bullseyes.

The prize meeting, which was this year shot at 300 yards (twice), 500 and 600 yards, saw one of the largest fields for many years, with 42 shooters competing in the morning for the Cortis Cup and in the afternoon for the Association Cup.

But the main prize was the Carden Cup for overall scores and with it the first of the 12 places in the Sussex Championship final at long range on June 29.
