Timberlake strikes silver at Chichester tennis tournament

CHICHESTER Racquets and Fitness Club hosted an LTA south-east junior tour under-nine event.

This grade-five mixed singles junior tournament was the latest held at the club in the winter competition season.

The event was organised using two round-robin draws of five players each and the scoring format comprised the best of three tie-breaks to seven points.

The top two players from each group progressed to the semi-finals.

Toby Mullineux, representing Pavillion & Avenue Lawn Tennis Club, came first and collected his gold medal after beating Edward Timberlake of Chichester Racquets & Fitness Club, 7-4,7-6.

Whilst Rees Rahman, of West Hants LTC, clinched third place after beating Evan Graham from Storrington Lawn Tennis Club 7-5, 7-5.
