Time for tee at Cooden Beach

NEW Cooden Beach Golf Club captain Terry Sands formally drove in on Sunday and despite the inclement weather, a tremendous crowd turned up in support.

Fortified with the traditional glass of winter warming, a rousing cheer followed the captain's drive down the first fairway. In thanking members for their support, he quipped that how appropriate it was that the name of Sands should be associated with Cooden Beach!

Lady captain for the coming year Sheena Foster also held her nerve with great distinction as she drove in and, undaunted by having to play from the men's competition tee, she sent her ball well down the fairway to great applause.

Terry announced that his chosen charity for the year will be St Michael's Hospice in St Leonards, whilst Sheena has selected Cruse, the bereavement support society for adults and children, with proceeds directed to the Bexhill area.
