Tom's the golden boy for Sussex

Ten-year-old Tom Harris, from Southover School, Lewes, had a great day at the Badminton England under-11s singles Team Challenge as Sussex completed a clean sweep of the gold medals, also winning the team event.

Playing as the No.1 seed for Sussex, Harris faced each opponent with flair and determination, won every game and took the individual under-11 regional gold medal.

He is now invited to play for the area team made up of the top six players from the region at the National Challenge finals held in Milton Keynes in early June.

In the Team Challenge the top four girls and boys from 28 counties play simultaneously at four venues - Leicester, Sheffield, Slough and Stroud - to establish the strongest county in the age group and players's rankings.

The Sussex county team travelled to Slough to face opponents from Berkshire, Essex, Hertfordshire, Kent, Middlesex and Surrey.
