Hide AdIt was a case of Tone Zone on tour as husband and wife team Derek and Grace Natoli headed to Reykjavik in Iceland for the Midnight Half Marathon. This incredible race starts in the Laugardalur Valley and follows the paths around the city – and at the finish all runners are encouraged to take a relaxing dip into the Laugardalslaug Thermal Spring to soothe their aching muscles.
Derek ran a PB of 1.59, with Grace close behind.
Tone Zone marathon man Paul Coe headed to Sydling St Nicholas in Dorset to compete in the Giants Head Marathon. Coe doesn’t seem to run the easy marathons and this one had nearly 3,500ft of elevation. Despite this Coe finished in 4:51.
Joan Woolley took her place on the start line of the Somme Centenary Challenge at Samphire Hoe on the White Cliffs of Dover. The race is held early in the morning to remember the first day of the Battle of the Somme where a first wave of 120,000 soldiers went ‘over the top.
The day has extra meaning for Joan as her Uncle Arthur was killed in action on that fateful day 100 years ago.
