Top hockey performance sees Burgess Hill Ladies beat Brighton

Hill were on top of this game with 95% of the match played in the opposition’s half.
The first goal came within 10 minutes when Wendy Caddye’s ball out of defence was picked up by Katie Meares, who dribbled into the D and passed to Becs Marriner – whose shot near the post beat the keeper.

Hide AdHill had multiple short corners with Sarah Corney controlling the centre midfield, well supported by Mia Thatcher on the right and Jane Amerio on the left. Marriner’s straight strike to the left post at one of these was deflected into the goal by Lynne Simmons, making it 2-0 at half time.


In the second half found Hill pressing deeper and deeper into the Brighton half and the third goal was scored from another short corner when Marriner found Simmons on the left again and she put the ball away.
Hill gave Brighton one goal in the last five minutes when a breakaway and fumble by Perry Webber let the ball dribble over the goal line.
Hill’s last match is on Saturday away at Beacon Community College, Crowborough, at 10.30am. Hill are just one point ahead in the table.so a nail biter is expected.
