A total 78 players took part in the knockout, beating last year’s number by three.

The early rounds saw some good matches, including another 180 from the league’s top maximum scorer Lee Franklin.

The first semi-final saw father and son Gary and Bradley Marshall team up with Ellie Gostick lose to Lee Langford, Rob Tite and Rob Rice.

The second semi had Rob Collins, Richard Ragless and Richard Todd beat Lee Franklin, Stuart Rose and Colin Mace.

The final saw future county MC hopeful Hayley Gatford get the match under way.

Tite and Ragless were part of 2014’s winning blind treble team. Collins got his team off to the best start possible by scoring only the second 180 of the night.

A slip from Collins on his double left Ragless with double five, which he also missed, and Todd also missed it on his turn. In the meantime Langford, Tite and Rice had plugged away to leave 115. Tite tried for the out-shot but could only leave 78. On his next throw Collins needed only one dart to hit the double five and secure the first leg.

The second leg saw a slow start from Langford, Tite and Rice but they caught up with Collins, Ragless and Todd.

Collins needed 108 and hit the treble 20 with his first dart, then single 16, but the last dart was touching the double 16 wire on the outside. Ragless stepped up to the oche to try for the double, and the first dart was just in to give the win to Collins, Ragless and Todd for the title and £180 between them.

Once again an excellent selection of trophies were supplied by C&M Trophies of Littlehampton for the presentation. The Bognor Benevolent Darts League, who also run the summer league, gave three cheques of £500 to charities – 4SIGHT, the West Sussex Association for the Blind; Friends of PICU, who support the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit at Southampton General Hospital, and St Barnabas House Hospice in Worthing.
