Triathletes' effort is stunning in Steyning

CHICHESTER Westgate members fared well at the Steyning triathlon.

The event comprised an 800m swim, a 35km bike and an 8k run.

As the first swim time was at 6am, many of the CWTC had a very early wake-up call around 4am.

A total of 14 members of CWTC entered the standard triathlon and three members entered the sprint, a record number for the club.

Chandra Morton did very well and was the proud age-group winner among the females aged 40-49 with a great time of 2hr 2min 7sec.

But these events do not always go to plan – as Andy Roberson can testify.

In the sprint competition, he was sent on the wrong run route. Upon completion he informed the officials, but was disqualified. But he did enjoy the rest of the event and obtained a very good time in the swim and bike sections.
