Adam Clarke and Lee Emanuel are heading to the Sainsbury’s British Championships in Birmingham, while Elise Lovell is part of the GB & Northern Ireland team which will compete in the European Cup Combined Events Super League in France.

Clarke and Emanuel, in fact, will line up against each other in the men’s 1,500m. The heats are scheduled for 5.20pm tomorrow (Saturday) with the final at 3.40pm on Sunday.

Clarke grew up locally, but now lives and works in London, while Emanuel spends the bulk of his time training in the United States.

Emanuel won a brilliant silver medal over 3,000m at the European Indoor Championships earlier in the year, although Clarke beat him on the road in the City of London Mile last month.

Lovell, meanwhile, is one of four women’s heptathletes chosen to represent GB at the two-day event in Aubagne.

The Hastings Athletic Club talent won the senior women’s heptathlon at the England Athletics Combined Events Championships in May with a huge score of 5,197 points.
