Two new signings for United

BEXHILL United have announced two more high profile signings for the upcoming Sussex Division Three campaign.

Dave Carey and Sam Thompson have returned to The Polegrove as manager Dave Shearing plots a return to senior football.

Shearing, who has already raided former club Eastbourne United Association for Dave Harris and Dominic Douglas, said: "I watched Dave for about five minutes in training and that was enough. Sam's back as well and he was looking good. I think there will be a few more signings before we start playing games."

One player United appear to have missed out on, however, is Wes Tate, who Shearing believes is set to rejoin Wealden.

Bexhill have been handed a difficult trip to the reserves of Conference South club Lewes in the first round of the Sussex Intermediate Cup.

Sidley have completed the signing of Josh Brown from Little Common, although the promising midfielder pulled a muscle in the warm-up before the friendly at Mile Oak on Tuesday night.

Darren Witham is also still on course to sign, while another ex-Bexhill man Adam Quinn played in Saturday's warm-up game away to Seaford but picked up an ankle injury.

The two matches against Division Two opposition went very well for Sidley with a 2-1 win on Saturday being followed by a 5-0 romp on Tuesday.

Sidley will take on Division Two neighbours Westfield, probably at their opponents' Parish Field ground, tomorrow (Saturday) 2pm.

They have also been drawn away to league rivals Hailsham Town in round one of the Sussex Senior Cup.

Little Common are gearing up for their first friendly away to Division Two club Peacehaven & Telscombe tomorrow. The firsts will kick-off at 2pm and the seconds will follow at 4.30pm.
