United bolster managerial team

BEXHILL United Football Club has bolstered its managerial set-up ahead of the 2005-06 campaign.

Darren Owen, who has run the club's third team for the past three seasons, has been promoted to joint manager of the reserve team, alongside existing boss Chas Tibbutt.

The 41-year-old, known to many as "Bleach", is a former player with Sidley United reserves and Bexhill Amateur Athletic Club, where he turned out alongside Tibbutt.

"He was very keen to get involved with the County League," Tibbutt said, "and he will definitely be a good addition to the coaching set-up. He's a likable character and we're hoping a couple of players he had in the third team will come across."

"I'm definitely looking forward to the challenge," Owen commented," and I'm looking forward to working in County League football."

Bexhill's third team, who will play their East Sussex League matches under the name of Bexhill Amateur Athletic Club next season, now requires a new manager, contact Martin Hyland on (01323) 727614 or 07714 313160.

Bexhill United is also running bingo nights at the Polegrove every Monday, from 7 for 7.30pm. All inquiries should be made to the club on 220732.
