United hate underflowing cups

AFTER THE FA Cup made their name this season, United are fed up with knock-out football getting in the way with their need to address their plight in the Sussex County League.

Two months after they won at Sidley at the second hurdle of their run to the third qualifying round at Maidenhead, United took virtually a second team to the same place and sank without trace.

They were without 10 probable first-choices, they lost an 11th injured in the actual match, and for the third game running had a third player sent off for a second booking.

After 15 minutes the ball went into the United net past the wrongfooted Richard Branson off the back of Scott McDonald's head. United, having pruned their defenders to three after going behind and having Warren Levy dismissed in the 50th minute, saw their offside trap sprung in the 65th minute and it was 2-0 and virtually game over.
