UNITED IN CONQUEST

SECOND-BOTTOM Haywards Heath were a suitable case for goal-difference treatment on Saturday. United's joint leadership with Midhurst needed an increased differential and by half-time, at 0-0, United boss Ian Browne was not about to leave matters in the lap of the gods.

An interval roasting from the Liverpudlian coach led to a five-goal second half.

Possession football and width led to Adam Westwood's 48th-minute opener. Tom Gomez made it 2-0 in the 67th with his second goal in two games.

Former Worthing and Bognor forward Lee Weston combined with strike partner Westwood in the 74th to score his second since joining United. Westwood picked up his seventh goal of the season with 10 minutes to go, and two minutes later Steve Pickles headed the fifth.
