United re-sign their attacking partnership

Hastings United have fended off growing interest in Ade Olorunda and Sam Adams by securing their services for next season.

It had become something of an open secret that the strike duo were being watched by rival clubs towards the end of Hastings' promotion-winning campaign and manager Nigel Kane is delighted that both have signed one year contracts.

"Ade was our top scorer last season and I wouldn't be surprised if a number of clubs wanted to get his signature.

"He's a fabulous capture for next season," he said. "Sam got stronger as the season went on and I know clubs were looking at him. It's great news for the club."

Olorunda, 24, grabbed 20 goals during an injury-interrupted season and his bustling all-action style really came to the fore during the closing months of the campaign, his three goals and all-round display in the play-offs proving crucial in wins over Dover Athletic and Tooting & Mitcham United.

Twenty-year-old Adams found the net 14 times and his new deal means he has been under contract since November 2005.

Kane said: "There is no doubt both Ade and Sam could earn a little bit more money elsewhere but there's more to football than a little bit more money. They both realise they are part of an exciting time in the club's history."

Ade's younger brother, Tim Olorunda - a vital cog in the centre of the Hastings midfield - has agreed to sign Ryman League forms.

He follows defender Dan Williams who was the first player to pledge his future to the club ahead of next season's assault on the Ryman Premier.

Captain Sean Ray has also been offered a one year contract and the club is awaiting his response, while Kane is hoping to sit down with goalkeeper Lee Worgan next week. "We have made Sean what we think is a very reasonable offer," Kane went on.

Hastings have a new physio with Lorraine Western, formerly of Sussex League Rye United, taking over from Carl Milton who has had to step down due to work and family commitments.
