UNITED RETURN TO WINNING WAYS

SIDLEY UNITED 1 THREE BRIDGES 0

SIDLEY United were back to winning ways in the Sussex County League Division One on Tuesday night, following a poor showing over the weekend.

Joint manager Peter Heritage said: The fact that we managed to string three passes together in the game meant we had already played better than the weekend.

The players accepted they had played badly and responded well with a good win, and it s always nice to beat Three Bridges as they re not exactly one of my favourite clubs.

We re still unbeaten and are hanging onto the coat tails of Burgess Hill who seem to be beating everyone in sight.

Dave Carey worked hard all match and he played in for Peter Baker to net his 12th goal of the season.

United kept their heads and the lead, and could have added to the total in the second period with Carey proving to be a handful for the Bridges defence.

Sidley: B. Poole, Rally, Copley, B. Poole, Ball, Scott, Day, Ward, Watson, Baker, Carey (Heritage). Subs not used: Bolton, Dadswell.
