United take on early pacesetters

A cracking contest lies in prospect at The Pilot Field tonight (Tuesday) when Hastings United face Sutton United.

The game will bring together two of the early pacesetters in the Premier Division of the Ryman Football League.

Hastings are currently in fourth place with three wins and two draws from their opening five matches, the latest of which was a 3-1 success at Aveley on Saturday.

Sutton lead the way with 13 points from the same number of fixtures and remarkably they have yet to concede a goal.

Sean Ray returns from suspension for the U's and is likely to slot in at centre-half alongside John Beales. Kick-off is 7.45pm.

Elsewhere, Sidley United are back in Sussex County League Division One action little more than 48 hours after their FA Vase defeat on Sunday.

The Blues will hope to add to their tally of six points from as many games when they travel to a third-bottom Hailsham Town side which has taken four points from seven outings. Kick-off at The Beaconsfield is 7.30pm.

Rye United's scheduled trip to Hassocks in the same division has been postponed.

The results will appear here later.
