Around 1,550 runners took part in sunny conditions, although a breezy seafront did hamper them a little close to the finish.

Local athlete Jo Corbett won for the second year in a row, crossing the line in 32.57, with Chichester Runners’ James Baker next in with a time of 33.03.

In fact Chichester had six of the first 11 athletes home, and Bognor’s Tone Zone Runners had their top finisher, Simon Gill, fifth in 34.28.

Women’s race winner was Shona Crombie-Hicks in 38.19.

The 10k was organised as ever by the Rotary Club of Bognor Hotham and started by a party including GB distance athlete and European 10,000m silver medal winner Chris Thompson.

It was preceded by youngsters’ races on the seafront which had more than 100 finishers.
