Video: Beckley 10K

Strong winds didn’t prevent the Beckley 10K celebrating its 10th anniversary on Sunday.

Almost 160 runners of all standards completed the popular annual event over a challenging course along the picturesque rural lanes which surround the village.

Although extremely blustery and the skies grey, it did at least remain dry for many of the competitors even if some of the later finishers perhaps had a few spots of rain to contend with.

Dan Sims was the winner in a time of 36 minutes and eight seconds. Charl Jordaan (Reigate Priory) was 19 seconds behind in second place, with Hastings Runners duo Stuart Piper (37:50) and Mark Dobbs (38:15) third and fourth.

Tina Oldershaw (Paddock Wood AC) was the leading lady in a very commendable sixth place in 40:13. Riz Maslen (Hastings Runners) was second lady with Christine Costiff (South London Harriers) third.

Philip Greenhough was the leading Rye Runners representative in 14th, with Alex Stone also making the top 30. All 159 finishers received special 10th anniversary commemorative medals.

The Beckley 10K was organised by professional events management company Nice Work and all profits from the race will go to the Beckley Village Centre.
