It’s a part of the Goodwood horse racing operation the public don’t get to see – yet it’s an absolutely vital stage in every horse’s visit to the Downs.

The Goodwood stables are more than a mile from the racecourse, making the logistics of getting every runner ready to race pretty tricky.

We went to the stables to see what happens, and spoke to stable manager Allan Morris and clerk of the course Seamus Buckley about their roles.
