It was won by London Heathside runner Adam Kirk-Smith in 33min 12sec in only his second time in the event, with Chichester athletes coming in second and third - James Baker the runner-up and Harry Leleu third.

Once again the popular race was a big success as hundreds of friends and relatives of runners and local people turned out to line the route.

There was a mixture of serious athletes and fund-raising runners and they made for a spectacular sight as they set off along Silverston Avenue and raced along the seafront and back.

The event has been going for 22 years now and organisers Bognor Hotham Rotary Club have increasing levels of help from the town’s Tone Zone Runners, who help with officials on the day as well as providing the biggest club entry - this year numbering around 90.

The women’s race was won by City of Portsmouth’s Emma Montiel.

See videos from the race on this website in the coming days and don’t miss the Bognor Observer on Thursday for a report, pictures and a full list of finishers and their times.
