Paul Pollock won a superb Chichester Priory 10k in a sprint finish - beating his two closest rivals by just a second.

The Kent AC man and Irish international - on his debut in this event - crossed the line in 29min 42sec after a lung-bursting finish to the line with Luke Caldwell and Scott Overall for close company.

Caldwell was second and Overall third, both timed at 29.43, with another two runners, Lee Merrien and Kevin Seaward, also dipping below the magic 30-minute mark.

First Chichester man home among just over 1,700 finishers - a number that will have delighted organisers - was Chris Zablocki, a superb seventh in 30.26, with James Baker 31st in 32.57.

The women’s race was won by Winchester’s Louise Damen in 34.30 - nine years after a nightmare visit to the race when she was injured when she went into a crash barrier.
