As well as Vincent’s gold in the under-100kg tournament, a couple of his club mates took top three prizes.

Sophie Adams, 17, who was competing in her first senior ranking event, secured a gold medal in the under-63kg class following four ippon victories.

Another of Vincent’s team also claimed a medal at the K2.

Craig Capon, 20, who was competing in just his second ranking event, secured a bronze medal in the under-73kg category.

Those impressive efforts mean that both Adams and Capon will join Vincent in the Great Britain rankings in their specific weight range.

Vincent was pleased to come away with another gold medal and said: “I put in a good performance.

“I am particularly pleased to add another 100 points to my ranking score which will take me up to fourth place ready for the British nationals.

“I now need to concentrate on European events until December and also the JFA Traditional Judo National Championships.”

“‘Craig can take some positives from his medal.

“Sophie was also outstanding and performed with a lot of maturity for someone has not competed for a while due to an injury that she suffered.”
