Jack Dineen doubled the lead five minutes later, with a vicious swerving 25-yard free-kick awarded for a foul on Chris Schaapvild.

Playing against their fellow-promotion side from last season, Wickers fought all the way to take the points, although they were given a jolt on the hour, when Duncan Jones headed in off the underside of the bar.

Woods and Holden were at it again, however, 10 minutes later, Holden converted Woods pass from a tight angle.

Wickers have set themselves up now for Sunday s game at Cray Wanderers in the FA Cup preliminary round.

The anticipated poor start to the season hasn t materialised and manager Bob Hitchcock looks forward to a month s time, when he will probably be able to call on more of his first-choice front side squad members. He has fielded a blend of youth and experience so far.
