Weather is the winner - but West Sussex sport is ready to hit back

IT'S often been said by visiting teams that playing the greens at Cowdray Park Golf Club is like putting on glass, but the icy conditions were a little too tricky even for seasoned seniors Brian Brockhurst and David Heard, pictured.

It’s been a similar scene at sporting venues across the Observer patch, with the local football and rugby programme completely wiped out.

Now teams are hoping temperatures pick up for them to return to action over the Christmas and new-year period – though a thaw will bring the risk of flooding in places where the snow has not melted.
