Westfield hit back to nab draw

WESTFIELD came from two-goals down to salvage a 2-2 draw at home to Wick in the Sussex Second Division.

Stunning strikes in the final quarter of an hour from Tony Harris and Lawrence Brand pulled the game out of the fire on Saturday.

Manager Steve Johnson said: "I was pleased to take a point. I was a bit disappointed we conceded two goals when we did. We took the game to them early on but I was a bit disappointed with some of our football."

Wick struck twice in a minute midway through the first half. Lee Webber poked the ball home following a melee and soon after the forward beat Paul Worthington at his near post after finding space through the inside left channel.

He then rattled the crossbar with a sweetly timed shot on the turn, fired fractionally too high and found the wrong side of the stanchion from an acute angle.

The momentum shifted though when Harris fizzed a 25-yard scorcher into the bottom corner and seven minutes from time Brand thundered a rasping free kick into the top corner.
