Wick accept late treat

THERE were tricks and treats a-plenty at Lyons Farm on Tuesday evening.

While it was a huge Halloween victory for Wick, their second of the week, it was hard on courageous Worthing United, who remain in a perilous league position. On a perfect night for football these local rivals served up a real firecracker which, in truth, neither deserved to lose.

Fans of both teams gave loud encouragement to their favourites and, such was the entertainment value, some went out and paid to come in again. Or if they did not, they should have. Flesh slapped against flesh as the tackles thudded in. There were scrambles in both goalmouths, and desperate clearances.

There was cleverness in evidence too, from Wick's Tom Manton and United's Danny Azimi. It was Azimi's bewitching skill that led to the corner from which the opening goal came. The ground shook as big Pete Christodoulou bounded upfield, smashed United ahead, then bounded back again.
