Wick handed a tough home tie

IT WAS NOT the draw they were hoping for but Wick Football Club at least have a home game in the FA Vase third round. There they will entertain fellow County League Division 1 side, Eastbourne Town, on December 9.

Wick and Eastbourne Town are among six County League clubs still into the competition. Whitehawk and Selsey have also been drawn against each other, while Three Bridges host Bemerton Heath Harlequins and Hailsham entertain Sherborne Town.

The winners of those ties will then get into the national stages when the competition is no longer regionalised. On the draw, Wick manager Carl Stabler said: "It's a little bit disappointing. Eastbourne are a good side and in a national competition, it's sometimes nice to draw teams who are not from the sam area.

"It's a home tie, though, and we'll take that. They are a hard side to beat and will start the game as the favourites because they are going for the league title."

Wick have already beaten County League sides Lancing (second qualifying round, 3-1 aet) and Oakwood (first round, 2-1) in their Vase run.
