Wickers frustrated in home draw

SOUTHWICK Football Club were unable to get back-to-back victories after eighth-placed Sidlesham held them to a draw on Saturday.

Wickers, on the back of a 4-1 win at St Francis Rangers, were looking to gather some momentum in the league and collect another much-needed three points. However, in an exciting game, they had to settle for a draw.

A last-minute goalmouth scramble put emphasis on the defensive nature of the game. The ball was hooked away in a trend that had become routine over the 90 minutes.

The match started brightly with Southwick aiming to keep Sidlesham in their own half. But the play quickly became stretched and Wickers' left-back Harry Constable confidently withstood a barrage of attacks.
