Sensei Zofia Malewicz scooped a pair of silvers while representing Team GB at the World Kickboxing Championships in Cyprus.

Malewicz fought in ladies’ masters light continuous kickboxing (her usual category) and the ladies’ full contact section. After three days of competition, she made it into the finals of both.

The light continuous final was a very close fight with a draw at full time. Extra time was required to determine a winner and Malewicz fought well, but lost out on the gold medal by one kick.

The full contact was new to Malewicz, and she did well to hold her ground in the final and achieve a silver medal.

Malewicz has trained hard for the event since the selections were made in July, training before and after school most days, and at weekends.

Malewicz hopes that some of her kickboxing and karate students will follow her into international competition. She would like to thank David Clark and Battle Abbey School for their support and sponsorship towards her GB kit and travel to the championships.
