Worthing had lost 24-17 away to Havant on the opening day of the campaign but got revenge to remain second in the National Challange SE 1 table.

The onset of play was quickly dominated by Worthing. From a line-out on the the halfway line, fly-half Lorraine O’Connor shipped the ball out to Gabie Archer, who expertly created space for Lauren Sandford to power through and offload to winger Cass Larcombe for Worthing’s first score.

Worthing had to work hard to keep possession, with the back row combination of Giorgia Palethorpe, Jaimie Justice and Holly Blackhurst formidable in their rucking.

Worthing touched down their second try when, from another line-out, the ball went out wide to Archer who set up a two on one for Sandford and Larcombe, who went over for her second try.

Sandford added the extras to put Worthing 12-0 ahead.

Worthing scored twice more before half-time. Archer went over after a 80 metre run and Jo Wakeford burst down the line to make the score 24-0 at the break.

Larcombe almost touched down her third, before Worthing did get a fifth try when Sarah Wakeford scored her third try in four games.

Havant got a penalty try back, as Blackhurst was yellow-carded, but despite being down to 14 players, Worthing continued to dominate and twice went close to another try.
