Worthing ladies record home win

Worthing Rugby Club's ladies' team ran out 19-0 winners at home to Ashford in National Challenge South East South 1 last weekend.

Worthing had received a walk-over win against Ashford earlier in the season, so were unsure what to expect from their opponents.

Lauren Sandford went over for the opening try inside ten minutes and then converted to put Worthing 7-0 ahead.

Megan Priest then touched down twice, with one converted, to give Worthing a 19-0 half-time lead.

That was the way things stayed as Worthing remained strong in defence and attack in the second period.

Worthing coach Phil Lavill said: “I’m very proud of the ladies, they looked strong from the first whistle to the last. As always, there’s things to work on at training, but we have a lot of positives to take from this game.”

Worthing host Canterbury on Sunday, with a 1pm start at Roundstone Lane.
