Worthing Pavilion Bowling Club ended their season of indoor mixed friendlies with an enjoyable afternoon at Horsham District IBC, winning four of the six games of triples and emerging victorious on aggregate by 89-78.

Fittingly, Richard Krupa, Pavilion's friendlies captain, skipped the top rink of Ross Smith and Peter Tomley, winning 28-11.

The game was undecided until the 16th end, when Pavilion scored a six and followed it with a pair of twos to stretch away. Krupa's day got even better when he won first prize in the post-match raffle, which followed an excellent two-course meal.

Charlie Ward, Allan Banks and skip David Berry won 15-7. They dropped only three of the first 12 ends, then thwarted a rally by the hosts, closing out the game after the advantage was reduced to four shots.

The tightest game involved Roger Wiggins, Simon Ritter and skip Alan Cheeseman, who were tied with their opponents three times in the first nine ends. Seven shots from the next four ends gave the visitors a decent lead but they were clinging on by the 18th for a 13-12 win.

Mike Lawton, Chris Cheeseman and Trevor Parker took the lead twice in the first half before dropping eight shots in three ends and eventually losing 15-9.

Rosemary Lewer, David Gilbert and skip Bryan Bodicoat took only five of the 18 ends in their game against Ric Davey's team, who scored two fives on the way to a 24-7 victory.
