Worthing Pavilion ladies seek second victory of challenging indoor season

Matches are played across five rinks by teams of four, with two points for each successful rink and two points for the aggregate win.
Arun and Adur are battling for supremacy at the top of the table, while Horsham, Grattons, Pavilion and Worthing IBC compete for the minor placings.

Hide AdPavilion's first match, at Horsham, ended in defeat by 85-75, with the home team taking eight of the 12 points. The second match, at home to Arun, was even tighter on aggregate. The visitors won by 85-83 and left with nine points, having won on three rinks and drawn on a fourth.


In the reverse fixture, Arun won by a more comfortable 70-52, with Pavilion winning on one rink.
Pavilion registered their first victory of the league season when they defeated the visitors from Worthing IBC on three of the five rinks and by 83-76, claiming eight points.
Their latest match was against Adur, who arrived at Pavilion Road with a 100% winning record. Pavilion put up a good fight, with victories on two rinks, but lost by 81-71 on aggregate.

Hide AdJulie Woods, Jill Lay, Kathy Byrnes and skip Jacky Pearson enjoyed a 23-8 win. They started with a six and took 12 of the 18 ends, restricting Adur to a couple of twos and four singles.
Pavilion's second win was earned by Pat Edmonds, Ange Gatland, Rosemary Lewer and skip Gill Harrisson, who won 20-13. They led 11-3 at halfway and scored a second four on the 14th end to thwart a determined fightback by the visitors.
Sandy Ward, Sue Manning, Helen Beale and skip Linda Farley trailed 17-7 after 10 ends. They outscored Adur from that point and halved the deficit, eventually losing 20-15.
Linda Patten, Chris Cheeseman, Sue Gubbins and skip June Lewis were just two shots down after 10 ends but managed to score only one more shot in a 16-7 defeat. Margaret Drage, Elizabeth Haynes, Ann Button and skip Esme Clough lost all except four of the 18 ends in their game, which they eventually lost 24-6.
Pavilion hope to get back to winning ways on Tuesday, February 11, when Horsham visit.
