Worthing rout the leaders

WORTHING'S opening bowlers whipped out Lewes in less than 20 overs for a total of 58 in the Sussex League.

In a victory by 129 runs, Australian paceman Kyle Bowes had five wickets for 32 and Chris Mansell four for 20, and at one time they had Division 2 leaders Lewes at 17 for eight after 11.3 overs. A diving gully catch by Andy Lutwyche off Mansell later ended the innings.

Worthing's 187 for nine, after choosing to bat, was thanks not only to opening batsman John Kaye's 66 off 116 balls, but a vital seventh-wicket stand of 57 between David Rogers, with 23, and Andy Lutwyche, whose unbeaten 33 at No 8 which included a six and four fours. When they came together, Worthing were 114 for six.
