Worthing wins latest match against Hastings

IN the Sussex Senior League on Wednesday October 14, the Worthing water polo team beat Hastings 20-11.(Quarter scores; - 6-3, 3-3, 3-2, 8-3).

This was a straightforward win against a Hastings senior team that was strengthened by the appearance of current GB senior international player, Jack Waller.

The Worthing team was always in control and a dominant final quarter saw the final score give a fair reflection of the difference between the teams.

Our zonal defence made it very difficult for Jack Waller to create many chances and we coped well with his obvious attacking threat restricting him to 4 goals.

The Worthing attack was led by Paul Phillpott, who after the success of the previous weekend in the national league fixtures at Walsall continued his good form with a 10 goal haul.

Scorers; - Paul Phillpott 10, Ziggy Tate 4, Richard Hooper 3, Jon Gray 1, Sam Abbott 1, Dominic Cranford 1.

Exclusions; - Jon Gray 1, Dominic Cranford 1.

Squad in full; - Alexander Cranford, Ziggy Tate, Jon Gray, Richard Hooper, Rob Osborne, Sam Abbott, Dominic Cranford, Andy Cawdery, Tony Gray, Nathan Hart, Paul Phillpott.

The next senior match is in the national league (division 4) when Worthing plays Grantham at the Marlborough school pool on Sunday October 25.
