Despite his opponent being heavier, after the first round they were level at 4-4, before Capstick beat him one minute into the second round to claim gold.

Crawley-wrestler Mihai Lordan was also fighting at 76kg and was forced to pull out of his first fight due to a knee injury.

The Romanian was lucky enough to get a bye in the semi-finals so managed to sort his knee out in the break and he came back to fight in the final where he took silver.

Capstick said: “It was a good competition, we went there thinking it would be an easy ride, but they had a lot of teams from other countries and it was a real battle.

“I was really pleased as the team from Holland won in every other group apart from mine that they were in.

“Mihai did really well as he picked up a knee injury and had to pull out of his first fight. We managed to do a bit of work on it and he managed to get silver which was great.”

They group train on Thursdays at 7pm to 9.15pm and Saturdays from 9am to 11:30am.
