Young bowlers see off seniors

THE junior section of Egerton Park Indoor Bowls Club took on the senior members in a mixed two rink match for the first time at the Bexhill venue.

Despite giving away plenty of years in experience the youngsters were far from overawed and thoroughly enjoyed pitting their wits against the older generation.

The first rink of Luke Arnold, Jenny Poll, Chris Evans and Callum Moore made a steady start and after seven ends had opened up a 7-3 lead and they extended their advantage to win 11-4.

The second junior rink of Zoe Shorey, George Aston, Seb Morley and Michael Stone made excellent progress over the first six ends to lead 10-0 before running out winners by 25-shots to 8.

The young players - all aged 16 and under - should be congratulated on their fine win and commitment to the junior section which augurs well for the future. The section leader thanked the senior players for their participation and giving their time to encourage the development of competitive play.

Coaching sessions for boys and girls aged 12-18 years are staged at Egerton Park IBC on Saturdays from 9am-11am. There is no fee and even equipment is loaned free of charge - beginners welcome. For further details contact the centre manager on 733354.
