Young boxer reaches national finals

The gifted youngster claimed a stunning unanimous points win in his under-36 kilo semi-final against Billy Buckland from the famous Repton Club, London, at Bristol on Saturday night.

The judges were obviously impressed because they scored the fight 8-2 in favour of the Hillcrest pupil.

Trainer Dave Bishop said: "Jason had previously lost a controversial contest against Billy and was determined to get the decision this time. He worked very hard in training on a new style and his strength overcame Billy, especially in round three where he overpowered him for a very well deserved victory."

Jason, who last year was voted the best junior boxer in Sussex by the county ABA, will now be on the bill at the Barnsley Metrodome on March 29.
