Hotstars started the sharper and took control of the game with fast passing, excellent distribution and great work-rate.

With both defences on top, neither goalkeeper had much to do until, following some slick passing Niamh put Horsham ahead from the edge of the D.

The hosts were boosted by the goal, and with Emma C enjoying an excellent game on the right wing, the attackers were supplied with plenty of ammunition. Hotstars got the second goal their dominance deserved; a move starting from Jemma Murphy in defence saw Sophie Ragg take it forward and another excellent finish from Niamh made it 2-0 at half-time.

In the second half Worthing showed why they are top of the table and undefeated in seven games by pushing hard and testing the home defence. The pressure told as the visitors pulled one back, and five minutes before time Hotstars goalkeeper Rosie pulled off a brilliant diving save to ensure the win which moves the side up to third. Hotstars will overtake Worthing if they win their game in hand.

The Hotstars are part of Horsham Hockey Club and play in the Sussex Ladies Development League with players aged 11 to 16.
