ALTERNATIVE FESTIVAL: It's Glastonwick

THE alternative to mass-produced beer meets the alternative to mass-produced music at this year's Glastonwick beer, music, poetry and more beer festvial.

Presented by punk-poet Attila the Stockbroker, Alex Hall and the Dark Star Brewing Company, the 13th Glastonwick will be held at Church Farm, Coombes, from Friday, July 4, to Sunday, July 6.

Numerous real ales, ciders and perries will be on offer to visitors, as well as performances from a host of musicians and poets.

Attila said: "The Glastonwick formula is simple '“ and still currently unique.

"There are loads of music festivals where corporate sponsors purvey undrinkable gnat micturitions as the only available refreshment, and loads of beer festivals where the organisers' idea of 'entertainment' is a New Seekers tribute band, whining away turgidly in the corner. We do it differently."

Started in 1996, Glastonwick has gone from strength to strength, operating at two different venues '“ Southwick's Barn Theatre and Shoreham Airport '“ until 2007, when award-winning, independent brewery Dark Star came on board. The festival moved to Church Farm, Coombes, last year '“ and the farm will again host the event this year.

Attila said: "Last year's Glastonwick was sold out Friday and Saturday and was recognised as the best yet.
