Angmering auction lots support vulnerable children

This elegant diamond and emerald encrusted gold necklace (pictured), worth about £1,000, is one of many impressive lots set to be auctioned off at the Angmering Manor Hotel, on Friday next week, in a bid to support the NSPCC.

The event has been organised by members of the charity’s Rustington, East Preston and Ferring district committee and features an impressive array of other attractive lots, from a chance to buy a ride in a supercar, courtesy of Rustington businessman, Peter Saywell, who owns a fleet of motoring marvels, to a romantic stay at the lavish Bailiffscourt Hotel and Spa, in Climping.

Jennie McNair, president of the committee, helped to organise the afternoon with fellow volunteer, Linda Denton. She said: “We desperately need the public’s support for this event. In this day and age the NSPCC should not be needed if we are the civilised society that we think we are. But the tragedy is that countless thousands of children, every day, need our help. Events like this really go such a long way towards rescuing children who, without our help, would be in a desperate situation.”

Other lots at the day include two tickets on the British Pullman carriages of the Orient Express, each worth several hundred pounds, as well as a dinner, bed and breakfast stay at the Angmering Manor.
