“I am trying to make things happen after everything entertainers have suffered since 2020,” Steve said.

“I wanted to start a family show in Sussex in the hope it could be an annual event that could bring families and the community together as well as raise funds for local charities.

“As a non-profit idea, I and my wife Nina are hosting an afternoon of variety featuring ITV Britain’s Got Talent acts, comedy, Punch & Judy, music acts, bubbles and balloons, Disney Princesses and much more.

“If it works work, we hope to make it a wonderful thing to look forward to each summer as I will grow the idea and bring amazing entertainers to Sussex families at an affordable price for a fun day out.”

It will be on August 6 from 12 midday to 5pm in the The Circus just behind Knockhatch on the A22 through the over-flow car park.

“I have been an Eastbourne resident since 2000. I moved here and I met my wife here. She was a dancer in a show and I was a comedy ventriloquist and I just love the town. I've done loads of shows here and been involved in loads of things and I've got two daughters growing up here. I just ended up staying here, and here I am 22 years later.

“We’ve been putting on our shows, and we have been speaking about doing a family thing sometime. I do lots of shows in hotels and comedy clubs and cruises and theatre shows but I've never really done a proper big family thing before, and I know the venue and I just thought it had great potential for something like this.

“We kick off with a friend of mine he will open the show who plays saxophone, Tom Sangster. I have got him and I've got some Disney princesses walking about and I've got a great bubble show with huge bubbles and I've got Peter Lambert who was on Britain’s Got Talent who is a circus act, a crazy, crazy act and is brilliant and I've got an impressionist as well.

“It is a big variety show and I will do my act as well as hosting. I just want to help out the entertainers and give them a bit of work and give families somewhere to go and help my friend who runs the venue. We're just hoping to set up something for the community. A lot of people really suffered during the pandemic and it is good to have them working again. Even the guy selling the ice cream is a business and it is lovely to support everyone.

“This is now my 25th year as a professional comedy ventriloquist and I have been all around the world with my characters. My main character is Arthur Lager who is a cheeky old man. He looks like everyone's grandad and if there are grandmas there he will give them a bit of cheek as part of the show.

“He has done all the Saga cruises and the Disney cruises and everyone loves him. He's a fantastic character to have.”
